Toffee

Age: 6 – 8 months

Sex: female, not yet spayed

History

Toffee is a young female labrador retriever who was rescued by IRR from a pound.

Personality:
This young lady is a typical puppy, full of life, everything is an adventure. She’s not yet fully house-trained but understands she needs to go outside. She doesn’t seem to have had any training yet but she is at a perfect age to spend time with her and teach her how to be a good family member. She adores her food as all labradors do and this will be very helpful with training. Her recall is very good so with a bit more work would be fine off the lead. She does still jump up when people come into the house, but seems to understand ‘no’.

She loves being with people and will always be one step behind you, so does get upset when she is left. She has been good with other dogs and really wants to play all the time. She is ok when traveling in the car but must be well secured, as soon as the car moves she curls up and sleeps.

Toffee’s Dream Home:
This dream girl would love an active home with a family who have time to spend on her training. She is very affectionate and a loveable little puppy who deserves a fantastic forever home.

Behaviour with other animals:
She’s been quite “interested” in chickens and hasn’t been tested with cats. At her young age it should be possible to train her to behave well.

Toffee has gone to her Forever Home

UPDATE 30.12.2013

Toffee is settling down really well in her new home and is learning her manners at mealtimes.

Almost immediately, she formed an excellent bond with Paddy, the Lab and has already started to borrow some of Paddys bones and toys when he isnt looking. She is fast learning from him how to get very muddy. Toffee is learning how to paddle in the local pond and is beginning to show an interest in the ducks but is not keen on the swans.

Apparently, Prince tends to let things go over his head, though he does occasionally try to play but Toffee has now started periods of raucous knockabout with Paddy, giving as good as she gets, and she has also become an accomplished gardener, already having re-sited several shrubs without supervision!!!!!!

She loves being off the lead with Paddy and Prince, the greyhound, but keeping up with Prince is a problem because if Prince decides to run he, of course, runs rather quickly. Off the lead Toffee’s recall is phenomenal and Shaun has never known such a young dog to have such a good recall.
