Gone to Rainbow Bridge 4 May 2020

Margaret says, “Exactly 8 years ago, on the 4th May 2012, we collected our IRR Goldie from Kidderminster. His name was Woody but we renamed him Sandy.

He has given us 8 wonderful years of loyalty and love (mind you, there were moments in the first 2 years where we might have disputed that!). It’s amazing what sitting outside the two cafés in our village feeding him biscuits every time he didn’t bark at traffic and other dogs, achieved. He became a well-known and well-loved dog, as everyone stopped to talk to him. It also gave him a love of going to cafés for coffee and cake, especially if they gave him a bowl of water and a biscuit.

My family and especially my grandsons, have loved him dearly. When they were around, you would always find him in the middle of them. That weekend we got him had a double celebration, as I learned I was going to be a Grandma for the first time. So, it was with a very heavy heart we had to make the awful decision to have him put to sleep. He had been on borrowed time really over the last 6 months and, especially, in the last few weeks. His back legs couldn’t hold him up anymore and on Monday he couldn’t get up at all. We knew it was time.

Thank you, IRR for bringing Sandy into our lives. We have loved him passionately and we got it back in spades!”

WOODY’S HISTORY

Woody is approximately 3 years old. He was found and surrendered to IRR.

FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT: UK – APRIL 2012

Woody was very thin when he arrived, but he is putting weight on now. He is housetrained and he is good with children and other dogs.

When he is in the mood Woody can be good with cats, but if he feels so inclined he will chase our cats.

Woody is good on the lead and he will `sit’ when he’s told. He is not food possessive and he does not rush his meals, in fact he will leave some of his food and come back to finish it later.

He is a very happy boy and his tail never stops wagging. He is quite playful and likes to carry shoes and slippers in his mouth – he will pick them up and walk to the door with them when he wants to go out.

MAY 2012

Woody has gone to his Forever Home.
