Neeson Smith-Ryan

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

A SAD GOODBYE TO A VERY LOVELY BOY (26.11.2019)

Aileen and Richard had been taking it one day at a time for a few weeks after 2 new lumps were discovered in his mouth. Following biopsies, urine and blood tests, the results revealed he had stage 3 cancer with a median life expectancy of 3 months. There was nothing to be done other than keep him comfortable. He remained happy and comfortable with no major decline for about a month which was good.

On November 26th, Aileen told us “Neeson has gone to the Bridge. He, suddenly, became very poorly today. The, growth in his throat is, now, massive. I am working in Japan so I wasn’t able to be with him at the end but, thankfully, Richard was.

Daniel is too young to understand. We explained that Neeson’s body stopped working because he was very old and poorly and that he wasn’t going to come home again but he hasn’t understood really. We believe the main thing is to be open and clear and not get him worried. I fly home tomorrow morning. I guess the house will seem very empty without Neeson and that will drive it home to me.

We made sure he was comfortable and happy until the end which is what we promised him and he absolutely knew that he was cherished by us all”.

A SUCCESSOR TO ANGEL & ALLIE

Mr. Naughtical Neeson came from Ireland! when he was about 7 years
old. He was a total fluff-ball and he absolutely loved the water.

When he arrived he was met by two elderly sisters, Angel and Allie. He raced into the house and licked Angel on the face, so she agreed that it was OK for him to stay forever too.

It wasn’t long before both his lovely sisters went to Rainbow Bridge, so Neeson happily stepped into Angel’s shoes to be a sponsor dog.

Sadly, after succumbing to illness after a long battle, Neeson crossed Rainbow Bridge on 26/11/2019 to join his siblings

Aileen would like to pass on many thanks to everyone who kindly sponsored him:-

EARLY HISTORY

In 2014, Neeson was a beautiful 6 year old boy who was rescued by IRR in Ireland. He went into foster in Berkshire. He was greeted on arrival by Angel, Allie and Sam but poorly Allie went to Heaven on 26th June 2014 and Sam followed quickly behind on 27th July 2014.

FOSTER UPDATE (August 2014)

Unsurprisingly, Neeson’s fosterer, Aileen, fell in love with him and she has, yet again, joined the ranks of failed fosterers.

FOREVER HOME UPDATES

A very lucky Neeson stayed with Aileen in his Forever Home along with Angel but, sadly, Angel soon followed her sister and brother to Heaven on 19th December 2014. It was then that Neeson stepped into Angel’s shoes as a Sponsor Dog.

By this time, the very distinctive and rather large but loving, totally unique, middle-aged Henry had joined the fold as a foster dog in November 2014. With Neeson, he helped the family to come to terms with the loss of their beloved and beautiful Guardian Angel.

It was in June 2016 that Daniel John, a human brother, arrived. The dogs were very happy to accept him and then, in June 2017, the delightful Tessa became the newest member of the family. She was blind and desperately needed an operation which was done in July and, to the delight of everyone was a total success.

The dogs all love Daniel very much and naughty Henry loves his toys too!! Sometimes a bit too much!!
