Diesel Barrell

DIESEL, once called ASH, is one of the biggest puppies and has very, very fluffy black hair. He has stunning deep blue eyes, a white tip to his tail, white toes and white flash on his chest, and a white chin. He has beautiful markings, really symmetrical. He looks as if he will be a very big dog. He plays nicely with the other dogs and is very clever, as he was the first to work out how to get out of the whelping box.

Ash is named after a tree, like his brothers Cedar and Rowan whilst his sisters were all named after flowers. He is one of the surprise puppies born to the very beautiful and very young golden retriever, Kaleigh

UPDATE FROM THE 2008 REUNION

Diesel once called Ash was one of Kaleigh’s babies. He lives in Kent with Jo and family, who have recently become fosterers for us. He is another gorgeous looking boy with a wonderful temperament thanks to Joy’s TLC when they were babies and to the wonderful owners who have carried on the good work. His best friend is Poppy, the Golden Retriever.

Diesel in his New Home

Just a little note to let you know that Diesel is doing really well. We have had 4 nights now where he has slept through and no mess :)))))) He doesn’t shake at all now when I walk him around the roads. The other day I took him in to Age Concern where my mum goes and he met all the lovely elderly ladies and gentleman. People go all silly when they see a puppy don’t they?

He now comes when he is called. He also sits and can give me his paw, I think that’s pretty fantastic……..Thursday I am going to a puppy class, just to observe.

Diesel’s Diary

14th November 2007

Diesel went to the park today, and met all of Poppys friends, from Sally the Jack Russell to Benson the Great Dane!

He absolutely loved it……………..he is so comical, he thinks he owns the park with all the attention he is getting.

He is an absolute pleasure to have and I love him so so much.

24th November 2007

Just to let you know that Diesel is fine. He is enjoying his daily walks with Poppy. Yesterday he went into the water. Poppy went in as normal for a swim, and Diesel followed her, only up to his knees, but he loved it. He is growing so big, and he loves his grooming sessions.

15th December 2007

Diesel is very heavy now, and very strong. He is completely house trained now and has a very loud and deep bark. He has his two walks a day with Poppy and he is becoming quite a celebrity in the local park, everyone adores him and he of course knows it.

Diesel keeps taking the bits off of the Christmas tree, he is so funny!

2nd January 2008

My Christmas, by Diesel…

I had a brilliant christmas, although a bit confused, Poppy and I had to let this big bearded man in the house in the middle of the night wearing a big red suit and carrying huge big sack full of something. Poppy assured me that it was okay to do this and we wouldnt be told off for it, although Joann wasnt too pleased with the amount of reigndeer poo he carried in on his boots, im sure she thought it was one of us!!!!!! Anyway after having a disturbed night with this visitor, then the children appeared all happy and very excited. Then there was alot of paper being torn and lots of ooohhs and aaaahhhhs. Then guess what Damian came into the kitchen with something for me and Poppy. Poppy just knew what to do, she wagged her tail and jumped up and down then ripped into this parcel to reveal a present, so guess what I did the same and I got a new tug rope. I played for hours xxx

Then Joann put this huge bird into the oven, wow I thought thats terrible, poor bird. But guess what? It tasted fantastic, Poppy and I had a gorgeous christmas dinner, followed by a long, well deserved forty or fifty winks, (more like a hundred and fifty). When we eventually woke, damian and Joann took us both out for a long walk. Walk off all that dinner !!

And guess what I had a new lead and a new collar, what a fantastic day xxxx

I thought it had all calmed down but New Years Eve, we had yet more excitement. We had a party, well Joann and Damian did, but I was the center of it…..there were alot of children and I was such a good boy. At midnight there was alot of fireworks near our house set off and Poppy hated it, but I was big and brave and a true gentleman and let her hide under most of the table. Yesterday we all slept most of the day, so we all had a good festive season.

The children are back to school tomorrow, I am going to miss them.

Anyway I hope you and Tara and Fable are well, and that all my brothers and sisters have had a good time like me.

Love and licks and cuddles from the ever growing, very heavy.

21st February 2008

Diesel, well what can I say… He is full of energy, character, fun and probably half of the plants in the garden. He particularly likes Yucca followed by some heather or Ivy. Diesel has decided all by himself that he wants to rearrange our garden… bless him! We had fenced off all of our flower beds, but now he just looks at us and then steps over it. My how he has grown.

We have a little day out booked for him in a months time, he is going to come home less a little something, if you know what I mean. Better to get it over and done with.

Apart from the plant problem or lack of, he is still wonderful and I adore every minute of the day with him. At the end of March we are going on our first camping weekend this year, and we can’t wait to take Diesel. Let’s just hope he dislikes plants then. He is eating well, and sleeping well, and fully house trained and great off his lead, and doing very well with his recall. A pretty perfect dog I think. He is truly wonderful. Please ask Kayleigh’s owners to give her a big kiss and cuddle from us, for giving us such a fantastic dog!!!!!

Hope all the other pups are well, reading the updates are great.

24th February 2008

Here are some recent photos of our boy. We have been out and about this past couple of weeks as the weather is getting better. We have had visits to the woods, the banks and the seaside. Diesel was so funny on the beach. He wasn’t too sure of the water at first, but soon got over his fear. The sand he just rolled about in and ate alot of it.

He is growing into a very handsome dog!

10th April 2008

So so sorry its been a few months. We are so busy enjoying our new boy… he has settled in so so well.

He has now had the op! Felt very sorry for himself, but soon came bouncing back none the wiser.

There is so much to tell you about his progress and his new four legged friends and all his walks and his swims and the mischief he gets up to daily… The snow! Well thats another story… but he is wonderful, adorable and OURS! I’ll have to tell you all about it when we see you in September.

5th August 2008

Hello Joy its me Diesel… just to let you know I am ok, still having fun and causing complete chaos wherever I go. For some reason people keep calling me donkey… mmmmm don’t know why. Anyway i’m still busy as ever. Busy social life. I go camping a lot, and to the beach and woods, seems like I’m on my feet all day.

September isn’t too far now and I am so excited!!! Can’t wait to see my brothers and sisters and my mum of course. Joann keeps saying we need to brush up on the obedience a little, but I think Joann is just fine. 🙂

As you can imagine I am a bit busy now with the children being off of school, but we have loads of fun and i’m keeping them on their toes…

I hope you are well and obviously busy with Tara. How is Tara and Fable? Do you know what I’m bigger than them now and I’m bigger than poppy. Well they keep saying I’m a big boy and I know it must be my height because down below something is missing if you know what I mean… joann still thinks I don’t know, but I will still humour her…

Anyway got to go now, take care and I’m sending you big big licks and cuddles.

Lots of love

12th August 2008

Just to let you know that I am an extra special boy now! Joann has become a fosterer… So now Poppy and me have to show the new comers what to do (and not to do) when they stay with us. At the moment we have Sally and she’s bit of a doll… I think I’ve pulled, but you don’t need to get a hat yet!

It’s all really exciting and we have been on some long walks together. I’ve even given up one of my blankets… how good is that?

As always lots of licks

26th January 2009

Diesel is… well… Diesel! He’s big, dopey and just gorgeous and he just loves everyone. He loves the water and getting as muddy as he can and if you’re in the way then that’s your bad luck 🙂

He and Poppy are still the best of buddies and to this day I have never heard Diesel growl or even see him bare his teeth. He is an absolute god send.

I still think that when my dad passed away just over a year ago, I believe my dad sent Diesel to me. He is placid, fun, gentle to everyone and is a clown when in company… just like my dad.

Diesel’s favourite place is the beach. We went to camber sands the other day and we were on the beach for nearly 4 hours and he and Poppy were shattered. He has so much fun with the children.

Diesel sends his love to Bailey, Jasmine, Cookie, Poppy, Lily, Rowan, and of course his gorgeous mummy Kaleigh.
