Trigger Pells

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Sad News Friday 26 May 2023

Trigger’s Mum, Sara, told us “I am really sorry to say Trigger had to be put down this morning. He had a growth on his testicle, had hurt his left back leg, and he was bleeding internally. I was with him as he passed.

My soul mate is now pain free. Fly high”

So many people have been sending messages of support to Sara. They told her she has done the most difficult thing in the world for her best friendbut it meant Trigger was free of  pain and at peace. Sara did the hardest, bravest and kindest thing anyone can do for their dog by putting him first. Sadly, we have to suffer the heart wrenching pain so they are free of theirs. There is never a good time to have to make that awful decision but there is a right time to say “goodbye” to our beloved dogs. They leave us with wonderful memories which stay in our hearts and minds forever when they have to say that final farewell to us.

Everyone is thinking of you, many are sending hugs and everyone is so sad for you and very sorry for your loss.

God bless you sweetheart, sleep peacefully beautiful boy, run free sweet angel. For sure, after you ascend, you will be just like a puppy again and having fun.

Have a safe journey as you fly to Rainbow Bridge and leave behind the ups and downs of life.  Many Dog Angels

await you, the cruelties of life forgotten. The latest newcomers, Missy, Gracie, Bella, Duke and Bob will be there to see you crossing the Bridge. Three girls and now three boys, passing in quick succession, all together now and forever young and free.

Sara would like to thank her many friends including all those on Facebook who have sent their love and support to her as she grieves.

History

Trigger is a lovely natured 8 year old Golden Retriever. He was vaccinated but not neutered due to his lack of body weight.

SO HAPPY IN HIS FOREVER HOME (JANUARY 2019)

Trigger didn’t have too far to go to find his perfect forever home. It was love at first sight between him and Sara so, of course, he is staying with her forever.

It is hard to believe it has been almost exactly two years since the loss of her beloved Brandy but, for sure, he had an angel paw in finding his Mum a worthy successor.

HISTORY

He is a very sweet submissive boy who has been trained and is house trained He was once a very well loved pet but, sadly, his life has gone downhill because of family illnesses. When he arrived in the UK, a few days before Christmas, he went into foster with Sara

PERSONALITY

Trigger is a beautiful calm and loving dog but he needs a lot of tender and supportive care to bring his true potential to the fore. He is a very calm dog and is beginning to play but tires very easily.

On Christmas Day, he was with a group of eight people and he seemed to really enjoy being with them. He laid on his bed in an adjoining room while we had dinner although he would have been able to hear us. He was very calm and laid back with my 2 year old nephew, who is very fond of animals, and, under the care of his mother, Trigger laid next to the little boy.

HEALTH

Trigger is very thin with hip bones and ribs showing so it will take time to improve his body condition and weight but I have been gently feeding him 6 times a day.

His muscle tone is poor and he lacks strength. He can walk only for about 20 minutes all told then he will begin to wobble as if he is exhausted.

His coat lacks shine and he is losing it. He also has a sore edge to his mouth on both sides.

SOCIAL LEARNING

TRAVEL: He does not have the strength to jump into the car so he has to be lifted .

HOUSETRAINING: He is fully housetrained.

BASIC TRAINING: Trigger appears to be well socialised and has settled into the house very easily.

LEADWALKING: He walks `loose lead’ with a slip lead. Trigger tires very easily so he is only gently walking for a maximum of 20 minutes .

RESOURCE GUARDING: Trigger shows absolutely no evidence of resource guarding

SEPARATION ANXIETY: Trigger follows Sara around the house and loves to be made a fuss of. He loves to sit next to you for a cuddle but he will go to his bed when asked and sleeps there at night

ADULTS and CHILDREN: He is very friendly with both adults and children. He has been to a different house and happily accepted the people in it .

TRIGGER’S DREAM HOME

Trigger doesn’t ask a lot out of life. As long as he is well loved and has plenty of good, nutritional food and regular, gentle exercise, he will be content. Someone at home most of the time would be perfect for him.
