Alfie Spring

FINALLY, HE FELL ON ALL FOUR PAWS

We couldn’t understand why gentle, loving Morgan was being overlooked because he is great with people (big and little) and is brilliant with other dogs. His obedience was coming on a treat. In fact, he is the perfect dog.

We knew he would love a home either with a family or an older couple but another dog was a must as he really loves having a friend. He is coming up a year old now and is castrated and microchipped.

ALFIE’S GREAT NEWS

Hi, it’s Alfie here

Well, it’s all good news for me. I have a new brother Hector and best of all I have my very own forever home with Mummy Laura and Daddy Jon. They both absolutely love me to bits. I heard Mummy saying “I thought Alfie would be a handful but he is an absolute delight”.

Hector and I met up at Aunty Lyn’s house in Bristol and we hit it off straight away so Aunty Pauline knew we would make a wonderful pair.

New Mummy & Daddy came to meet us and we were both ever so good so they decided to adopt us. I thought they might like Hector better than me cos he is soo handsome but they tell me they love me lots & lots too so, I am delighted to report, I am a very, very happy boy.

Here is me in my new home with my special ball and there is one pic of me with my very special brother, Hector.

ALFIE’S FIRST BIRTHDAY (JULY 2015)

Dear Aunties

Thank you so much for my birthday presents and for all those lovely signed cards. I really did feel like a grown up boy.

I had a lovely day, in fact every day is an enjoyable day. I spend my time running around lots and lots and we go on some very nice walks some with my mums friends which means I’ve met lots of new dogs.

Once a week I go to my Grandmother’s house whilst my mum is at work and she has a big black Newfoundland called Henry. We all play really well but, of course, I’m much smarter than him. He has a big head but only one brain cell in it or, at least, that’s what my Mum and Dad say!!!

It’s really good here because, although the other 2 members of the family come and go a lot, when they are home we get spoilt a lot and taken out for even more walks. Every evening I get a bit snoozy so I sit on my Mum’s lap and she cuddles me like a baby. In fact, I think they’ve nicknamed me “Mummy’s little boy ” as I can do no wrong.

Thank you all for looking after me so well but I am very happy to have a permanent home now.

lots of love ALFIE xxxxxx

THE OLDEN DAYS

Originally named Freeman, he was about 5 months old when IRR started looking for the right home for this bright boy. His mother was a Golden Retriever and his father is a Collie.

Freeman’s sister, Clover, was one of the first to be happily settled in her forever home but Freeman was still looking.

Freeman came to the UK from Ireland and went into foster in Surrey with Joan and Brian who loved him to bits.

COULD THIS BE THE ONE? (January 2015)

He became Morgan and went to what we hoped would be his Forever Home but through absolutely no fault of his, the adopter had to let him go.

He returned to foster care with Joan and Brian but, as time had moved on, Morgan had gone past the cute and cuddly stage so he had become less appealing to people. Joan and Brian even considered adopting him themselves as they adored him but they felt he could do better.

LAST UPDATE FROM MY FOSTER HOME (MAY 2015)

I must tell you, I am very happy in my foster home and they love me to bits but they want more for me than they can offer. They think I should tell you a bit about my exciting life recently so here goes.

I’ve been on my holidays twice now and it’s been grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

First I went to Aunty Pauline’s in Somerset and I had a fantastic time with all the other dogs but especially with Tufty, Josh and Izzie cos we had a proper puppy playgroup. Apparently, my sister, brother and I are all really alike but, equally, we are all different. Tufty is smaller, fluffy and very ladylike, Josh is smoother coated and quite light and I have a longer coat which is a tad darker and looks the most like that of my Golden Retriever mum.

In the pics, I am the one with the red collar. As well as Ellie, Aunty B’s dogs and my siblings, Ripple, the black Lab, was also able to come with her Ma and Pa and their little grandchildren. We were all very good with them except when Sprocket, the Goldendoodle, did his heavy leaning (which he does to get love and attention). Unfortunately, he was so heavy the tiny girl couldn’t take his weight and fell over. He said “sorry” so he was soon forgiven cos it wasn’t really his fault and he meant no harm. Apparently, he doesn’t know his own strength.

THE BEST OF NEWS (June 2015)

Alfie went off to live in his Forever Home with Hector (was Pepe).
